ISC and the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs awarded joint grant to support the Biological Weapons Convention

The President of the Malian Transition, His Excellency Colonel Assimi GOÏTA, received, on September 23, 2024, a strategic delegation comaposed of ministers from Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso and representatives of the Russian company Glavkosmos. This meeting marks the launch of an ambitious satellite project intended to strengthen the digital sovereignty and security of the countries of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), according to the Malian government

This project aims to design and deploy two satellites

one dedicated to telecommunications and the  other to earth observation. The telecommunications satellite promises to improve Internet coverage, media broadcasting, and strengthen regional digital infrastructure.

As for the constellation of Earth observation satellites, it will offer high-resolution satellite imagery to support strategic sectors such as agriculture, health, and especially security, with an emphasis on border surveillance and risk prevention.

Of the project focuses on the transfer of skills to local experts. According to Nigerien Minister of Communication Sidi Mohamed Raliou, “it is about enabling autonomous management of these infrastructures in the long term.”

Disable automatic app updates to free up space
App updates often take up space and fill up your phone’s memory. To free up space, it’s a good idea to stop your apps from updating automatically. For Android phones, go to the Play Store, and click on the three horizontal bars at the top left, then on “Settings”.

In the window that appears, tap on “Auto-update apps”, then check “Do not automatically update apps”. This way, you will be able to manually update the application of your choice, so as not to clutter up your phone’s memory.

symbolizes a decisive step for the Sahel countries, which are seeking to master cutting-edge technological tools to ensure their sovereignty and security. The involvement of Russia, through Glavkosmos, in this initiative is a sign of the growing cooperation between the Sahel region and the major world powers in the space field.
